After overwhelming reviews from around the world, we are thrilled to unveil the highly anticipated second instalment of the Bei Fang Dim Sum Series. Under the expert guidance of our Group Executive Dim Sum Chef, Chef Leung Kwok Wah, our talented teams have once again come together to craft a menu that pays homage to the beloved art of dim sum, showcasing eight new bite-sized creations, packed with bold flavors and rich cultural heritage.
A centuries-old afternoon tradition with roots in southern China, dim sum, which translates to “touch the heart” in Chinese, was originally crafted as delicate snacks to be served alongside tea during travels. Today, dim sum is enjoyed across China, with each region boasting its own distinct array of unique dishes.
With over two decades of culinary experience, Chef Leung Kwok Wah is the Group Executive Dim Sum Chef for Aqua Restaurant Group, overseeing all dim sum across the globe. Chef Wah has seamlessly integrated a modern twist into Hutong’s creations, crafting Cantonese-style and Northern dim sum dishes that honor traditional techniques while embracing innovative flavor combinations, capturing the hearts of diners the world over.
The innovative Bei Fang Dim Sum Series features eight northern-style dim sum dishes, which have been created by the global team of chefs across all Hutong restaurants. The number eight was not chosen randomly; it is considered a lucky number in Chinese tradition, provoking feelings of prosperity with the similarity of the Chinese pronunciation of the two words “ba” (8) and “fa” (prosperity).
Chinese cuisine is one of the oldest and most diverse in the world. A centuries-old tradition originating in southern China, dim sum was originally created as light bites to accompany tea during long journeys. Today, it is enjoyed across China, with each region adding its own unique touch. Our team has embraced traditional Chinese cooking techniques, such as steaming, deep-frying, and braising, while drawing inspiration from the artistry of Cantonese dim sum. The result is a menu that seamlessly blends the flavors of Shandong, North, and Northeastern China with innovative twists, while embracing bold new flavor combinations, such as a surprise infusion of Sichuan flavors.
Have your say! The best-selling dim sum from this series will become a permanent fixture on our à la carte menu worldwide – because delicious moments should never be temporary.
